Current self-regulation is not guaranteeing relative prominence to corrections and apologies and complaints are often dealt with privately or by other methods. This is no longer acceptable as newspapers are not being held effectively accountable for bad journalism. The PCC must enforce the Editor’s code to the letter or Independent regulation not self-regulation is now a must.
